The season for fruit will lead off with juicy strawberries in June and then progress to cherries, blueberries, raspberries, melons, peaches, apricots, plums, pears, apples, grapes and more!

The CSA model has been around for a long time, it’s known originally as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Basically, this system works because customers are able to secure fresh veggies throughout the growing season by paying for them fully early in the calendar year. When a customer makes their purchase, they are buying a CSA “share.” This provides the farmers and market with much valued financial security and the ability to pay bills and buy seeds and supplies during a time when our income is at its lowest.

When we group these CSA shares into a unique arrangement we have designed at Montour Market, we call the program a CSAM (Community Supported Agriculture Market). Here we accomplish another level of support; you are directly supporting the farmer, and as well, you are supporting the community market to eventually become your own local food cooperative. With you as a key member, and with our core team we are growing at a rate of 250% annually, so it will not take long to see the cooperative take shape.
